Ehrenberg Sandbowl OHV area - This small
(approximately 2,000 acres) dune area is popular with Ehrenberg & Blythe
locals and OHVers traveling to the big dune areas of California. A fun
playground for ATVs, dirt bikes, SUVs and Jeeps. Don’t be fooled by what, at
first glance, looks easy. Some of these slopes are very steep. If you slide
into soft sand you can quickly get sideways on the hill, lose control and roll
over. Air down as much as possible to improve traction. Ehrenberg Sand Bowl
site provides a starting point for visitors to explore a variety of designated
roads and trails.
Facilities at the site include a parking lot with ramps for loading OHVs,
unisex vault toilets, a shade Ramada and picnic table. Dispersed camping is
available nearby. Use is limited to day use only, 6 am to 10 pm. Current fire
restrictions limit fires to charcoal grills or propane stoves. No trash
collection on site. Pack it in and pack it out.
Use I-10 to Ehrenberg, AZ. Take Ehrenberg exit turn South on Frontage road,
pass Flying G Truck Stop, turn left on first street (Ehrenberg/Cibola Road).
This road is not marked, 10,000 Video Store will be on the right hand side of
the road. Go South approximately 3 miles to site entrance.
The fee is $5 daily per vehicle or $50 annually per vehicle, for up to 5
people per vehicle. There will be a $1 per person fee charged for each person
over the 5 person limit. Visitors must pay daily fees at self-registration fee
pipes located at the site or at the BLM Yuma Field Office located at 2555 E.
Gila Ridge Road in Yuma. Annual permits are currently available for purchase
at the Yuma Field Office.
